Genuine Zippo wick, for all Petrol Zippos and other Petrol lighters. Each wick comes indivually packed and is wire wrapped to stop fraying and extend the life of each wick. Most all day zippo uses get over one year out of each Zippo Wick.

How to Replace the Wick

Tools you will need - Tweezers or small pointed pilers and a screw driver.

  1. Ensure the lighter is empty of fuel, as petrol can get everywhere if recently filled.
  2. Remove the inner from the case and turn upside down
  3. Using a screwdriver, remove the brass Flint screw and tap out the old flint. Be careful the spring can shoot away from the lighter and often hard to find.
  4. Using the Tweezers of Pliers carefully remove the wadding inside the lighter and discard any of the remaining wick.
  5. Unpack the new wick and straighten it out
  6. Going from the top of the lighter, thread the wick through the hole.
  7. Uisng the pliers/tweezers grab the wick from the base of the insert and pull through. You ideally want the wick to only stick out of top to the same height as the chimney.
  8. Repack the wadding into the base of the lighter, ensuring that you weave the wick to maximise contact with the wadding.
  9. Replace the felt at the base and reinsert the flint, then the spring and fully tighten.
  10. Adjust the wick in chimney so it sits central and refuel the lighter (washing hands before lighting).
