The Original is more like the plain, UK chewing twists. A stronger tobacco with a spicy and smoky flavour, a little liquorice is added to enhance the spice. The average nicotine content of each pellet of the Original is 6mg per roll, most of this is not released.
Chewing tobacco was an essential part of the tobacco industry up to and including the industrial revolution. It was used by Miners, Sailors, Drivers and anyone else who couldn’t smoke while working for whatever reason. Around the world it has been and still is the most common form of “Smokeless Tobacco”. Chewing tobaccos come in a wide range of styles and are taken in different ways. As with most chewing tobaccos used in the UK, the Oliver Twist is made from a rope of tobacco leaves. This is cut into small pellets and placed between cheek and gum and left to release the nicotine and flavour. Once the flavour and nicotine begins to subside, chew the pellet a few times and put back between cheek and gum. When the pellet is chewed, a higher level of nicotine is released and it can burn the mouth a little.
Oliver twist is produced with only natural ingredients and addition sugar content is kept to a minimum, around 0.01g per pellet.
