Thunderbird Lighters:
The Thunderbird Lighters are not Zippo’s but they are almost identical in feel, quality, weight and most importantly reliability. However they are more rounded for the pocket and Gas fuelled so you do not taste the fuel like you do with a Zippo Petrol Lighter. They are Ignited by a flint and flint wheel, which need replacing but are significantly more reliable than the Piezo electric ignition.

So you get all the advantages of a Zippo lighter without the pungent petrol flavour protruding through your favourite smoke. And the gas doesn’t evaporate so it will work when you pick it up. Here at your favourite specialist tobacconist we rarely recommend anything above a Thunderbird lighter.!!

Fuel:
The Thunderbird Gas Zippo replicas take standard Ronson or Zippo (recommended) flints and good quality Butane Gas refill available from most supermarkets or your local tobacconist. The instructions will tell you to use Thunderbird or Vector gas but any quality gas such as Ronson, Zippo or Colibri will more than suffice.
If it is Bull Brand or from the pound shop the gas is likely to be full of impurities and will block the valve so avoid these.
A testament to reliability of design, Zippos still come with a life time warranty*. The only part which is not serviceable by your good self, is the hinge and this will be replaced (hinge only) for no cost. Just return to Zippo UK with your name, address and it will be sent back via recorded delivery to you within 8-10 weeks. We suggest you remove the insert, and when sending to Zippo write on the outside of the bag/box that the lighter has no fuel or insert and is the case only. Royal Mail has tightened restrictions on shipping lighters through the post.
