The latest vitola to join the Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo series is now available in the UK.
Le Hoyo de Río Seco is presented in slide lid boxes of 10 cigars and boast an impressive 56 ring gauge which immediately makes them one of the widest to be found in the standard Habanos portfolio
Le Hoyo de Río Seco is the second vitola to be introduced to the new Le Hoyo Series range which was launched in 2015 with the Le Hoyo de San Juan, a cigar which also carries a heavy girth
(57⁄8” (150mm) x 54) to reflect the continuing trend towards stout cigars
The new vitolas joining the Le Hoyo range only use Seco and Ligero leaves in the blend that are grown inSan Juan y Martinez, a small town in Vuelta Abajo zone which provides most of the premium tobacco leaves destined to become Habanos. The famous Hoyo de Monterrey plantation is also located here which grows some of the finest leaves for other prestigious Habanos brands.
Hoyo de Monterrey are an exceptional Cuban Cigar brand, their cigars tend to be mild in flavour and are a light and easy to smoke cigar, don't let the mildness put you off though as there are still many rich flavours you receive from these cigars. In 1831 Don Jose Gener y Batet at the age of 13 came to Cuba from Spain. He worked on his uncles tobaccos plantation in Vuelta Abajo, where he learnt all there was to know about growing and producing tobacco for cigars. Fast forward 20 years and Don Jose produced his own line "La Escepcion" in his new factory in Havana, he then invested his profits in to purchasing one of the finest farmlands in Vuelta Abajo and registered the name Hoyo de Monterrey, which in English means " the hole of the Monterrey". The brand became incredibly popular and was especially popular in the UK by the time Don Jose Gener passed away in 1900 his cigar brand was one of the biggest in Cuba.
