The Partagas Maduro No.2 joins the No.1 and No.3 to complete the Linea Maduro range. The concept was launched in 2015 with the Maduro No.1 quickly becoming a firm favourite amongst Partagas devotees. Due to overwhelming demand, a further two sizes were announced and these were unsurprisingly to be called Maduro No. 2 and Maduro No.3. The latter was released to much acclaim in the UK last year and the former is now ready to join its counterparts.

Measuring 43⁄4” (120mm) x 55, the Maduro No.2 has the distinction of being the only figurado (tapered at one end) within the series. It is presented in unvarnished SBN boxes of 25 cigars and is dressed with a second band carrying the name of the vitola (size).

Maduro describes a very dark shade of wrapper leaf. The leaves are harvested from the top of the shade grown tobacco plant and after air curing, natural fermentation and ageing, assume their rich, dark, oily appearance which adds a “top-taste” to the blend which many describe as sweet. Dedicating Maduro wrappers to a vitola is not a totally new concept for Habanos s.a. In 2007 they launched the Cohiba Maduro 5 range in three sizes.

Partagas cigars have been a firm favourite with those seeking a deep and rich smoke since the 1840’s. Don Jaime Partagás y Ravell moved to Havana from Catalan in 1835 and worked initially for a local businessman (Lloret de Mar). By 1845 Don Jamie opened the now iconic La Flor de Tabacas de Partagás in Havana and procured a large quantity of plantations in Vuelta Abajo. The connection with Vuelta Abajo, Cubas premium tobacco growing lands, the Partagas brand was able to offer only the finest tobaccos in their cigars.

Don Jamie experimented with various fermentation methods, many of which are still used today around the world. One other innovation Partagas brought to the cigar world, was the use of readers for rollers in the factories and this tradition continues to this day in Havana factories. Sadly Don Jamie was murdered on one of his plantation in 1868 and his son (José Partagás ) took over the business.

Partagas are renowned by connoisseurs who are looking for a powerful cigar with a rich and pronounced flavour. These cigars offer a classic Cuban taste which has changed very little in the 180+ years, with rich woods, nuts, spice, earth and leathery flavours. The Serie range was introduced in the 1980 and while the blend is a little stronger, it still offers what you would expect form this brand.
