A real spun cut is something rare these day, most are roll cake and made by rolling thin slabs and pressed into a cylinder. Gawith Hoggarths Curly Cut starts life as an actual hand spun twist, which is then pressed and sliced. Dark air cured Virginias, common in the Brown and Black twists, but given a good helping of bright, air cured leaves. The pressed twist is thinly sliced and breaks up easily for convenient packing.
A little sugar is added to enhance the bright leaves and contrast the darker air cured. The perfect balance of grassy, hay flavours of the flue cured with the earthy, leather almost spicy twangs from stronger tobacco. Burns away to a clean white ash, but can burn a little hot if smoked too fast, like any Virginia. A great introduction to the stronger, Brown and Black twists.
