Nemli Meerschaum

Meerschaum can be found in various areas around Turkey, each deposit differs slightly in quality. These hand carved meerschaum pipes are cut from Nemli block meerschaum. While this a lower grade of meerschaum compared to the Sarisu and Margi used by artisanal carvers. Being carved from block meerschaum, these pipes will colour beautifully over time from the smoke

The porous nature of Meerschaum makes for a cool, dry and very clean smoke. Over time these pipes colour from yellow, orange, red, and amber with the smoke and nicotine the pipe absorbs. Due to this ability, Meerschaum pipes do not need breaking in and the cake (carbon build up) should be kept thin. Meerschaum is fragile, like any clay pipe and should be treated with care. If looked after these pipes will last not only years, but generations.

All of these pipes are one off's and totally handmade, so the one you see in the pictures, is the one you get! This pipe also comes with a hard case, protecting your pipe from knocks and for easy transport.
