The 9mm filter may be the industry standard these days when it comes to filtered pipes. But not all pipe makers produce them and some shapes cannot take these filters. So for those who would like to make their smokes cooler and drier, have a number of options; Clay or Silica crystals and now the Erik Nording “Keystones”. All of these filters offer a porous material which sits in the base of the bowl, Silica is frowned upon by many smokers as unsafe and chalk is not overly popular.
The Nording Keystones are made from Volcanic clay and offer a natural, tasteless and highly absorbent medium. This soaks up moisture from both the smoke and from the smoker, resulting in a cool and dry experience. These are ideal with the Erik Nording Eriksen Pipes, but can also be used with a conventional pipe too.
For use in Eriksen Pipes
- Add 10 to 15 Keystones into the Spiral Chamber, mount the pipe bowl and fill with tobacco
- After smoking let the pipe cool down, empty the ashes from the bowl and remove the used Keystone from the spiral chamber.
For use in Conventional pipes
- Add 5 to 10 Keystones into the pipe bowl and fill with tobacco.
- After smoking empty both the Keystones and Tobacco
- Nording Keystones will help save money, no more wasted tobacco at the bottom of the pipe bowl.
