JF Germains are one of the biggest small time blenders working from the Channel Islands off the UK coast. This small family run business has been producing classic “British” style tobaccos since 1820 on the picturesque island of Jersey. Over the centuries the Germains factory has resisted expanding over these years and still make their tobaccos the traditional way.
Rich Dark Flake was released for the UK market, due to British smokers looking for an alternative to the Stonehaven blend made for Esoterica range blended solely for the USA. Built on the same base blend of Virginia and Burley, with a sweet and fruity molasses topping. Compared to the iconic Stonehaven, RDF (Rich Dark Flake) comes over a little plumier compared to the slight chocolatey note found in the American version.
As soon as you open the bag/pouch the smoker is greeted with a fragrant, mouth-watering and incising aroma. Of course it’s how it smokes that matters and it’s easy to see why this is our biggest selling tobacco. From match to ash, RDF is smooth, rich, complex and so tasty most smokers are sad to see it burned away. The toppings add a sweet edge to hot pressed Virginia and Burley flake, which itself is easy going.
