One of the original blends from 1848. Rich chestnut coloured leaf from Carolina combine with Virginia brights tobaccos to produce a mild but satisfying blend. A touch of perique gives a taste of elegance and quality. No latakia is added.
Robert McConnell was a master blender, not only did he create his own stunning tobaccos but also carried the torch many other brands(Rattrays & Dunhill). The skills and quality of the raw tobaccos, made McConnell's tobaccos some of the finest in the world and Glen Pipers is a great example of what can be done with tobacco. Built on a base of Virginia's with some Black Cavendish and a touch of Perique. The tobaccos have been blended and hot pressed, part way through the process a little natural fruit extract is added. The resulting broken flake has plenty of body and smokes smoothly. The Perique adds a little spice and figgy nature of this American leaf is enhanced by the fruit topping. Think of a VaPer (Virginia & Perique), mixed with a little fruity European aromatic. A great introduction tobacco for those wanting to move from Aromatics to more traditional blends, or a change of pace for Virginia and/or Perique smokers.
Sadly McConnells no longer produce pipe tobaccos and production has been shifted to Kohlhase Kopp & Co in Germany. The quality and traditions are still continued to this day.
