Filter pipes are often less elegant because the stem ( professional term: tige) must accommodate a 9mm filter and it is important that enough wood is

left over so that thetige does not crack when the pipe is cleaned. The BigBen Sylvia has a 14mm tige where we have mounted an alluninum ring for extra strength and protection.
