Robert Mconnells “The Original Scottish Blend” has been in production since 1848 and is one of the earliest blends procued by Robert McConnells. This is the archetypal definition of a Scottish Blend; a blend of sweet virignias with black Cavendish and orientals. Compared to “the English” blend, Scottish Blend is sweeter and smoother, thanks to the addition of Black Cavendish.
As soon as you open the tin you are greeted with a wonderful, creamy, smoky and packed full of earthy/woody aromas. This very complex tobacco makes the most of Kentucky Fired, Carolina, Red Virginia, Turkish and Latakia. This deep and punchy tobacco packs easily thanks to the fluffy ribbon cut.
Once you light the bowl you are greeted with a sweet and fruity Virginia taste, with the Kentucky adding a little spicy twang and the unmistakeable earthy taste. The Turkish and Latakia add the smoky, creamy almost sour nature to the smoke. All in all a complex, but perfectly balanced Scottish Blend.
