A classic Rattrays blend, named after the Henry Smith an armourer involved in the Battle of the North Inch (Battle of the Clans) at Perth in 1396. Henry Smith otherwise known as Hal O'The Wynd was drafted in to fight with the Clan Chattan and helped them to Victory over the Clan Camerons (read more about this over at Wikipedia). To honour and remember this iconic figure from the Perth area, Charles Rattray created a honest straight up tobacco, made using Red Virginia's, Kentucky and Perique. The tobaccos are pressed into a plug, sliced into flakes and gently part rubbed. The resulting broken flake is easy to pack, very smooth and cool to smoke. The Red Virginia's provide a sweet backdrop for the smoky, leathery Kentucky and the small amount of Perique adds a delightful spice to the balance of flavours. A personal favourite of ours here at GQTobaccos.
